Our Story…
Hi, I’m Megan Hoffer. I’m a Wedding, Portrait and Event Photographer from Lancaster, Pennsylvania and I Founded Lancaster Photography School.
Though I’m widely known for my beautiful photos at this stage of my career, I started out just like many other photographers — with all the motivation but zero skills…and no one to turn to for help.
Experienced photographers wouldn’t take me seriously, were mean, or charged hundreds of dollars per hour for one-on-one coaching.
After hours of YouTube videos and online courses that were confusing and overwhelming…
I eventually figured out what was helpful and what wasn’t to do what I wanted to do: Take beautiful photos without needing a ton of gear or a studio. It turns out, it’s actually pretty simple!
Implementing my Rules of Light Quality and 4-Steps of Exposure, along with a People Over Profit mentality, I became more successful than I could have ever dreamed, making six figures in only my third year of business! Photography became my full-time dream job.
The day I hit the six-figure mark for the first time, I made a vow…
I would never forget what it felt like to climb the mountain of success alone and I would always support and encourage new photographers.
In 2020 I found myself with unexpected extra time when the pandemic hit so I decided to make that vow into something more substantial.
Lancaster Photography School was born.
I knew I wanted it to be a place where everyone would feel welcome no matter their skill or experience-level and no matter their ethnic, racial, or religious background. — A community of kindhearted people with a love of photography, heart for service, and a drive for business success.
We officially opened in 2022.
We’ve been growing in leaps and bounds ever since.
Watching the next generation of photographers use the information I used to grow my business together in a step-by-step, easy to understand roadmap to achieve their own success has been the most rewarding adventure I’ve been on in my career thus far.
I’m a proud momma bear.
And I am eternally grateful for each and every photographer that has joined our community near and far. It is growing into a beautiful blend of amazing people I am proud to call my friends.

In addition to being our Founder and CEO, Megan is a wedding, portrait, and event Photographer based out of Lancaster, PA. She is known for her clean & classic, true-to-color editing style and welcoming, bubbly personality.
Megan is an expert in the areas of Natural Light Photography, Client Experience (with a specialty in Posing), and creating a Workflow that works for you.
Meeting others and making photography fun for people is her favorite part of running Megan Hoffer Photography and Lancaster Photography School.

Ashley Kendall
FLAT LAY INSTRUCTOR
Ashley is a luxury wedding stationer from Lancaster, PA. She owns and is lead stationer at RSVP Love. Her business serves clients from all over the country.
Ashley is known for her gorgeous invitation suites, attention to detail, and kind heart for not only her clients but everyone she meets.
Ashley has been sought after for multiple Styled Shoots Across America and continues to blow everyone away with her knowledge of paper products and design.

Janelle Joy
EDITING INSTRUCTOR
Janelle Joy and her team of 14 expert 1-on-1 private photo editors provide editing services to photographers all over the world.
Janelle was one of the pioneers in the field of private photo editing back when digital photography was taking off in the wedding photography world.
She enjoys sharing editing tips and tricks with followers on her Instagram page.
Janelle teaches Adobe Lightroom 101 class and also a class dedicated specifically to Developing Your Unique Editing Style.

Scott is Lead Photographer and Owner of SMJ Photography based out of York, PA.
He is known for his award-winning flash photography, dramatic editing style and belief in a client-first perspective to business.
Scott teaches Flash Photography 101 for Lancaster Photography School in addition to his own workshops for his educational brand where he helps photographers interested in a more dramatic flash photography style.

Shawn is lead Videographer and Owner of Shawn Fisher Productions. He is a well-known video expert in Pennsylvania. Shawn has been building his business for over a decade and his experience shows in his amazing work in both wedding and corporate videography across the continental United States and Alaska.
Shawn teaches Videography 101 once a year, in person for Lancaster Photography School and our students rave about their experience.

TAX ORGANIZATION INSTRUCTOR
Heather is owner of Heather Marie Photography and self-proclaimed “Tax Guru.”.
Heather teaches a tax organization class live online once a year for LPS to help new photographers understand what taxes they need to be collecting, paying, and how to get organized for the big tax day each year.
